There are some new additions to this website. Now, many of the Funeral Music suggestions and some of the Wedding Music suggestions include links to short YouTube videos of Brett playing these works (or at least excerpts thereof). This will hopefully help making selections for these important occasions simpler.
Would you like to improve your music theory skills? Study composition? Do you need to get your co-requsite exam to get your practical certificate or diploma?
Theory and compositions can be by Skype, saving you travelling time and cost; or at Gordon, near Camden, or in the Southern Highlands, NSW.
A recent issue of Resonate Magazine of the Australian Music Centre includes an article on the new AMEB Series 17 Piano books. Preliminary grade includes a new McKern work called Scherzo.
The books can be bought at the AMEB Online Shop.
Thank you to those who alerted me to ABC Classic Drive’s playing of my Scherzo for saxophone last night at 6pm. And thank you to all who listened too! Well done Rob and Ben, the performers; and Wirripang the producers of the CD.
Remember you can buy this CD and score at Wirripang:

Brett’s Sonatina for Cor Anglais and piano has been recorded by Rachel Tolmie (cor anglais) and John Martin (piano). This jovial work contrasts a number of more sombre works on this great new CD.
The CD, On the Sorrow of War, is available from Wirripang: http://australiancomposers.com.au/cds/classical/on-the-sorrow-of-war-cd
Brett performed his own ‘Voluntary on Tallis’ Canon’ for organ at Wesley Uniting Church in Canberra on 22 June, 2013. This piece won a competition for a liturgical keyboard work in 2012.
Have a look at the Gallery page – there are some new photos, including some from my Europe/England trip in Dec 12-Jan 13 playing historic organs.
